Freshwater Tropical Fish

Tropical fish are probably the most widely kept animals in the hobby. Here we present information about their habitats, living conditions etc in the wild.

When reading through this section it is important to remember that fish belonging to the same species are found in more than one habitats and the conditions between these occasionally vary. The water parameters indicated in the profiles  should therefore be taken to be indicative, rather than absolutely necessary, for any particular type of fish.
